ACP TX operations portal
Privacy Policy
Last updated September 29, 2026
Who we are
ACP TX is the operations portal for the American Communist Party Texas chapter. The site is at acptx.us. Members use it to run chapter work: teams, membership, events, tasks, notes, and related organizing tools.
This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how Google Calendar connections work. It applies to the public site and the signed-in portal.
Information we collect
We collect information you give us and records created while you use the portal. We do not run advertising trackers or sell lists of members.
- Account and profile. Sign-in uses your email and a one-time code. Before we send that code, the page can ask you to complete a Cloudflare human check (Turnstile). Telegram is a backup for an existing account, or a link you add later in Settings. If you use Telegram, we store your Telegram user id, name, username, and profile photo. You may also add a display name, bio, skills, shirt size, and an approximate work area on a map.
- Public help requests. If you use Request help on the public site, we store the name, email, and optional phone, organization, location, and message you send so cadre can review the request.
- Membership and organizing work. We store team membership, roles, event invitations, RSVPs, attendance, tasks, notes, messages, feedback, education progress, and similar records that you or chapter leadership create.
- Calendar connections. If you connect Google Calendar, we store OAuth tokens so we can keep syncing. If you subscribe to an iCalendar feed, we store a private feed token.
- Payments. If you pay chapter dues or contribute to a fundraiser, Stripe processes the payment. We keep the subscription or contribution records needed to show dues and giving status.
- Files and media. We store photos, documents, and other files you upload to events, tasks, notes, or comments. Voice comments are stored for playback. If transcription is enabled, the audio is sent to Cloudflare to make a text transcript.
- Technical data. We use an HTTP-only session cookie so you stay signed in. In production we use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights for anonymous site-usage metrics.
Public pages use Google Analytics for aggregate traffic stats, with no ad personalization, and member pages are not tracked.
Google Calendar
Google Calendar sync is optional. You start it from Connect Calendar after you sign in. When you connect, we ask Google for these OAuth scopes:
- https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly
We use those scopes to push organization and portal events you can already see onto your Google Calendar. We create, update, cancel, delete, and edit occurrences of those copies. We look up only the Google events we created (they carry a private portal event id) so we can update or remove them. We do not import your personal Google events into ACP TX. Changes you make inside Google Calendar do not come back to the portal.
We store access and refresh tokens so sync can continue. You can disconnect at any time from Connect Calendar on the Calendar page. There is no calendar section in Settings. Disconnecting stops new sync and removes the stored tokens. Events you mark as not going are removed from the Google copies. They also drop from a subscribed iCalendar feed after the next refresh.
How we use information
We use this information to operate the chapter portal: accounts, membership, events, calendar sync, dues, messages, and related organizing work. We do not sell personal information. We do not use Google user data for advertising or for any purpose other than calendar sync and related account support.
Who can see your information
Signed-in members and admins can see profile and organizing records according to their role and team access. Approximate location is meant to show a general region, not a street address. Do not place a map midpoint on your home.
Events marked public can appear on the public landing page and on public event pages. An iCalendar feed URL is a secret. Anyone who has the URL can read that feed until you replace or disable it.
Admins and team leads can see more membership and operations data when they need it to run the chapter.
Services we use
We use other companies to run the site. They process information only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — database, file storage, and related backend services
- Vercel — hosting and optional anonymous analytics
- Google — Calendar OAuth and the Calendar API when you connect a calendar
- Google Analytics — aggregate traffic stats on public pages only, with no ad personalization
- Stripe — chapter dues and fundraising payments
- Telegram — login
- OpenFreeMap — public map tiles
- Email delivery (such as Resend or Amazon SES) — login codes and notices
- Cloudflare — optional voice-comment transcription
How long we keep information
We keep account and organizing records while your membership is active and as long as the chapter needs them for operations, records, or legal reasons. Calendar tokens stay only while the connection is active. Session cookies expire with the session.
You can disconnect Google Calendar yourself. To ask us to delete your account or stored data, contact chapter leadership or an admin.
Your rights
You can view and update much of your profile in the portal. You can disconnect Google Calendar or replace or disable an iCalendar feed. You can ask chapter leadership or an admin for a copy of your data or to delete your account.
If you live in California or another place with similar privacy laws, you may have rights to know, delete, or correct personal information, and to say no to sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Contact us to make a request. We do not claim a privacy certification such as GDPR certification.
